If 40 children use the school the income is
estimated at $4,000 per annum. I enclose an estimate of the expenditure. If the number in attendance at the school exceeds 40 it will be necessary to add a locally engaged Assistant Kistress

A site for the school can be found near the
Government Villas, as shown by the Director of Public Works, on the attached plan, and the cost of preparation of site (exclusive of playground) would be £6,500. The building is estimated to cost 816,000 and a sum of $1,500 would have to be provided for furniture. I therefore have the honour to request your authority to provide a sum of £23,000 in the Public Works Extraordinary Estimates of 1914 for this service.

As Headmistress of the school I recommend the appointment of rs. Main at a salary of £240 rising to 2260 after 3 years, with free quarters in the school premises. Mrs. Main is at present Headmistress of the Kowloon British School and till the school is built it will be necessary to give her a travelling allowance of $25 a Lonth in order to enable her to visit the Peak daily from Kowloon where she resides. It will also be necessary during the same period to grant the Assistant Listress & house allowance of 850 a month. It is proposed to give her eventually free quarters in the school as it is difficult for ladies in that position in life to find quarters at the Peak.

As it will take time to erect the school buildings, I request your authority to make the best temporary
arrangement
